cracked

so, i pulled my camera out of my bag a few days ago and this is what i see.

Camera's cracked

interesting as it is, all psychedelic seagull looking and all, it is not a picture i've taken. it's the result of a cracked lcd. L A M E - O! i can still see through the viewfinder to take pictures, but the viewfinder is not exactly accurate and i can't seem to change the flash settings. any suggestions on repair v replace? what's the hottest new pocket sized digital these days?

Terilli's case

this deli case at terilli's. it's looked exactly like this (maybe a little more dusty and faded over the years) since the first time i visited this land of delicious crab claws.

mom of the year

so the kids are about the begin the annual summer stint at dad's house. because i'll have them for such a short time this summer, i was reluctant to find a program that would mean they would have to be somewhere specific doing specific activities all day. their "regular" life is so regimented. so, c drops them off at the studio with me (which they love!) around 10 and they just chill.

i'm pretty sure any chance i had at "mom of the year" was already shot, but if not, i believe this should do it.

Mom of the year
this is lo watching a movie on my phone while laying under my desk.

Hard at work
these are the paper flora and fauna projects from the past couple of days.

a little somethin'-somethin'

so, i was feeling kinda lousy today after a lame encounter with a loved one. feeling like i was just banging my head into the same brick wall for, like, the 14millionth time.  somethin' must have kinda come loose in my noggin because the skies opened and a lovely angel choir sang somethin' lovely!  "i know", i thought, "i'll just kill 'em with kindness.  i'll just gift a little somethin'-somethin'." nothing says "let's just get over ourselves!" like a gift from the heart.  nothing big, just a token.  just a little somethin'...

lucky for me, i heard about the something store on npr on the way into work. turns out, you give these mad geniuses $10 and they send you (or your loved one) a little somethin'.  you don't know what it is until you open it.  some of the somethings are super fancy pants, like iPod shuffles and whatnot.  and some are not. but all are promised to be interesting.

so, anyhow, i ordered two somethings - one to be delivered to the brick wall and one to be delivered to my head.  i'll keep you posted...

jay jacks estate

over the weekend, we had one of those rare and perfect estate sale experiences that is so fantastic when it happens, it keeps you estate-saling one crappy sale after the next in hopes of scoring another  illusive jackpot.  jay jacks was a women's apparel designer here in dallas.  he had private clients and outfitted the "DALLAS" crew in the 80s as well as sold to Neiman Marcus.  his wife's wardrobe was pretty great and i left with some special finds, but cesar...  cesar hit the motherload.  mr. jacks not only had impeccable taste, but he also just happened to be the exact same size as my boy.  one gorgeous piece after the next fit like a glove.  we left with many armfuls.

Jay jacks
mr. jacks had teensy tiny feet.  these alligator wingtips left with me.

ClothesTable and sheets
cute sheets and a pair of these great tables.  stay tuned for a before and after post...

Magazine rack
this great plexi magazine cart before and after soap, water, super glue.

Vase and lighter
i see succulents in this great planter/bowl.  the other is a lighter...

Ice bucket
fancypants ice bucket.  champagne, anyone?

Painting and creamer
this painting came from another sale and the little creamer guy we found a cute resale shop.

a new baby!

OMG!  we have a new baby!

Beluxi
he's currently named beluxi but we're working on a new name as i type.  beluxi was given up by his original owners because they were lame and had no idea how radical he is.  because he's a big boy, he was having a hard time finding a foster family.  his time was up and he was due to be put down saturday morning.  my friend, paige, told me about him friday night and somehow it all just came together and now he's home with us!

he's adjusting quite well, i think.

cucumbers and chard!!

so sunday i was whining my head off about how the vegetable beds are in the wrong spot, and they don't get enough sun, and why isn't anything growing, and whah, whah, whah.  eventually, c asked me to put a sock in it and calm the heck down.  he reminded me it had only been a week.  ah... right.

and, then, lo and behold, what do you think was waiting for me when i got home from work yesterday, not 30 hours after my little fit?

Cucumbers and chard

hot-diggity!  cucmbers and itsy bitsy baby chard!!  oh-em-gee.

shosh, don't be jealous!  produce crossing state lines or not, i'm fedex'ing you my first harvest!
