a little somethin'-somethin'

so, i was feeling kinda lousy today after a lame encounter with a loved one. feeling like i was just banging my head into the same brick wall for, like, the 14millionth time.  somethin' must have kinda come loose in my noggin because the skies opened and a lovely angel choir sang somethin' lovely!  "i know", i thought, "i'll just kill 'em with kindness.  i'll just gift a little somethin'-somethin'." nothing says "let's just get over ourselves!" like a gift from the heart.  nothing big, just a token.  just a little somethin'...

lucky for me, i heard about the something store on npr on the way into work. turns out, you give these mad geniuses $10 and they send you (or your loved one) a little somethin'.  you don't know what it is until you open it.  some of the somethings are super fancy pants, like iPod shuffles and whatnot.  and some are not. but all are promised to be interesting.  

so, anyhow, i ordered two somethings - one to be delivered to the brick wall and one to be delivered to my head.  i'll keep you posted...

texas weekend outing no. 3: chupacabra's + motorcycles

sunday was the perfect amount of notalot.  breakfast tacos at home, a little lounging, a little coffee sipping, a little planning, a lot of laughing.  we finally made it out of the house around 3 pm.  rode around on the motorcycle for a while with no destination in mind.  stopped at chupacabra's (halz, it's not gone!  just moved to the "gas" station on the corner that doesn't sell gas) and had an agua de pepino.  it was frothy and fresh and delish.


rode around a little more and stopped for more grown up (ish) drinks at vickery park.  actually, not that grown up - cherry vodka limeade something or other.  so yummy and refreshing and pretty with that lime wedge and cherry swimming around in the glass.  dangerously reminiscent of a prom drink.  ricky joined us and we took a fantastic little ride around the lake before heading home to meet the girls.

the motherload

i have wanted a vegetable garden for, like, ever.  serious.  for mother's day, i got one!!!  c built me two raised beds.  and bought me tons of plants.  i have cantaloupe, summer squash, bell peppers, roma tomatoes, herbs, cucumbers, chard, arugula.  omg, i really haven't been this excited about a project in a long time.  what an amazing gift, huh?  c, you just knock me over sometimes.  i'm a lucky, lucky girl.

they are now full of super rich soil and tomorrow... i plant!!!  updates soon!

tardy weekend post no. 1: cesaaar's bday party

it was just the cutest evite is all.  that's why i went with the pirate theme.  and i'm the kinda gal that really thrives with a theme.  for those interested, party city has the best pirate gear - eye patches, earrings, ginormous treasure chest candles, skull and crossbone flags, inflatable parrot... you know, your typical, always-in-season, booty.  at daaarn good prices, too.
